Exhibition on Achievements in China Women and Children's Cause Opens in Beijing
October 8, 2022
"Women and Children in the New Era — Achievement Exhibition of China Women and Children's Cause over the Past Decade" was launched at the China National Museum of Women and Children (CNMWC) in Beijing on September 29. The exhibition was jointly held by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the National Working Committee on Children and Women (NWCCW) under the State Council.
Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the ACWF, announced the opening of the exhibition. Gu Xiulian and Chen Zhili, former vice-chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee and former presidents of the ACWF, attended the opening ceremony. Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, addressed the opening ceremony. Zhou Zongmin, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency, and Gu Yucai, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Deputy Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, spoke at the ceremony. Huang Qingyi and Song Xiuyan, former secretaries of the Leading Party Members' Group and vice-presidents and first members of the Secretariat of the ACWF, inaugurated the exhibition.
The exhibition was composed of five sections — "Great Attention, Sincere Care," "Achievements in Women's Development in the New Era," "Achievements in Children's Development in the New Era," "Achievements in Family Building in the New Era" and "Achievements in Women's Federations' Work in the New Era." More than 500 photos and nearly 100 objects are on display.
The exhibition showcases the country's solid and remarkable achievements in women and children's causes, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. It aims to guide women to boost their confidence in history, inspire their love for the country, the Party and socialism, and encourage them to make concerted efforts to forge ahead determinedly towards a new victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
In the exhibition hall, some visitors shared their feelings about the exhibition. "When looking at the waistcoat worn by Huang Wenxiu (late first secretary of a village in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, who devoted herself to poverty relief work and died fighting poverty on the front line), the image of her walking in the fields and trying her best to find ways of lifting people out of poverty is conjured in my mind," says a Party member.
While appreciating a loud speaker used by Zhang Guimei, principal of Huaping Senior High School for Girls, a visitor said that she deeply admired the dedicated spirit of Zhang, who has helped improve education in poverty-stricken, mountainous areas for nearly 40 years and helped nearly 2,000 impoverished girls leave the mountains and continue their studies at universities and colleges, adding that "she is the kind of celebrity in the new era whom we should all follow."
Cai Shumin, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and curator of the CNMWC, presided over the opening ceremony.
Members of the Secretariat of the ACWF, part-time vice-presidents of the ACWF, representatives from members of the NWCCW and women role models also attended the ceremony.
